Biracial/Bisexual Research Study

Hello there! My name is Jeraca Marsh, and I am a current doctoral student at Alliant International University San Francisco. This letter is an invitation to participate in my dissertation research. My study is addressing people who identify as both bisexual and biracial and are above 18 years old.

This study defines bisexuality as: “someone who experiences sexual, romantic, and/or physical attraction to more than one gender, not necessarily at the same time, in the same way, or to the same degree .” Other terms, such as pansexual, omnisexual, or polysexual have similar definitions, so if someone were comfortable with their sexuality being defined as in this way, they would also be invited to participate.

This study defines biracial as: “someone who identifies as having two or more racial or cultural backgrounds.” Similarly, if someone feels like they better identify with a term like multiracial but are comfortable identifying as someone with two different racial or cultural backgrounds, they would be invited to participate as well.

The purpose of this study is to better understand experiences of those who are both bisexual and biracial. If you volunteer to participate in this study, you will complete survey questions to better understand your lived experiences with relationships. The survey will take you approximately thirty minutes to complete, and to compensate you for your time in contributing to psychological research, you will receive $2.50. Agreeing to participate is voluntary, and you can exit the study at any time without penalty. No identifying information will be connected to your responses.
