Study assessing brain injury and physical injuries in individuals who are at risk for violence

Dr. Carrie Esopenko, an Associate Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, is completing a research study to assess lifetime exposure of brain injury and physical injuries in transgender and gender diverse individuals who have experienced violence, including but not limited to domestic violence, intimate partner violence, and non-partner violence. There has been increasing prevalence of gender-based violence globally and we are specifically hoping to gain a better understanding of how violence-related injuries impact transgender and gender diverse communities specifically.

As part of the survey, participants will be asked to provide anonymous demographic information, partner history, and history of brain injury or other injuries (e.g., head, neck, facial injuries) occurring due to violence. Participants must be at least 18 years old to participate and the survey takes approximately 10 – 20 minutes to complete.
