Trans Development Study (TDS)

The Gender Development Program at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is now recruiting for the Trans Development Study (TDS), which investigates the neurodevelopmental, behavioral, and mental health experiences of transgender/gender-diverse youth at the beginning of puberty.

Youth may be eligible to participate if:

  1. They are in the early stages of puberty (or 8-15 years old, inclusive)
  2. They are transgender, nonbinary, or gender-diverse in other ways!

Participation would involve completing several assessments including, 1) online surveys and virtual interviews; 2) in-person tasks, and; 3) a one-hour MRI component to assess neurocognitive development during puberty. Visits occur every 9 months, comprising of three study visits in total. We would also ask a parent/guardian to complete surveys about their child as part of the study visit. Families would be compensated for their time with $150 per visit, totaling $450 over 1.5 years.
