Social Transition

Social transition is the non-medical process of adopting the name, pronouns, and/or gender expression (clothes, haircuts, etc.) that feels most aligned with a trans person’s identity.

This may also include packing, binding, tucking, or using contouring prostheses. More information about binding or tucking safely can be found in the AFAB or AMAB guides, respectively. Some of these techniques can be unsafe if practiced incorrectly, so it is important to help your child find reputable information and products.
