Exploring Occupational Therapy’s Role in Transgender Healthcare.

My name is Erica Griffenkranz, and I am interning at JASMYN, an LGBTQIA+ youth center in Jacksonville, FL. Advocacy is a part of JASMYN’s mission and improving access to affirming healthcare for trans and non-binary youth and adults is a part of JASMYN’s work. I am currently a doctoral capstone student in Jacksonville University’s Doctor of Occupational Therapy program. Occupational therapists focus on meaningful occupations in an individual’s roles, habits, and routines. I believe that occupational therapists are in a unique position to be a resource as healthcare providers to help trans and non-binary individuals participate in daily occupations in their true gender identity to decrease occupational injustice and marginalization.

You are invited to complete an online survey as part of a research project conducted by Erica Griffenkranz, student, and Dr. Sandra Brown, faculty mentor at Jacksonville University. The research project is called Exploring Occupational Therapy’s Role in Transgender Healthcare.

The purpose is to create an educational resource for occupational therapy (OT) practitioners and students to competently serve the transgender and non-binary community to increase the field of trans-affirming healthcare. We are recruiting individuals who identify as transgender or gender nonconforming and who are 18 years old and over.

The study involves the completion of a 7-items online survey. The survey may take up to 15 minutes to complete.  In addition to the survey questions, we will be collecting demographic data of age and gender. You will participate anonymously, and no personal identifying information will be collected. The survey can be completed anywhere you have access to the Internet.

If you meet the above criteria and would like to participate in this study, follow the link below to access the informed consent and the survey. You may also copy paste the link into your web browser.
