Greetings!
My name is Devika (she/her and they/them), and I am collecting data for my dissertation seeking to better understand the impact of racism and heterosexism on BIPOC LGBTQ+ survivors’ response to sexual violence, and I invite you to participate!
Participation in the study consists of:
-
A quick (5 - 10 minute) demographics survey (see link below)
-
A 45-60 minute interview via Zoom. Questions will focus on your experiences with your racial and sexual identities, sexual violence, coping strategies, and support systems
-
A possible short follow-up interview (10-15 minutes)

Reviewing interview transcript and providing feedback (optional)
Upon completion of the interview, you will receive a $25 Amazon gift card.
Participation in this research is voluntary. All personal identifying information will be protected, remain confidential, and not be included in any future publications or utilization of the data.

To be eligible to participate, you must:

be an adult (aged 18 or older) residing in the United States,
-
be a person of color,
-
identify as a sexual minority,
-
have experienced sexual violence after turning 18 years old, in the United States,
-
be fluent or advanced English speaker,
-
provide informed consent to participate,
-
not be experiencing severe mental health challenges, such as psychosis, or immediate safety concerns, AND
-
have access to a digital device and the internet.

After completing the survey, we will reach out to you to set up a time for an interview!
It is hoped that the current study will provide more information about the experiences of BIPOC LGBTQ+ survivors of sexual violence and offer representation in academic literature for the community.
