Co-Facilitator!
Stand with Trans is currently recruiting people who are interested in co-facilitating some of our support groups. This is a great opportunity for folks to volunteer to serve trans youth and their caregivers! Please check out some of the openings and requirements below– if you’re interested in applying or learning more, please email Logan@standwithtrans.org!
All Openings:
- After shadowing 2-4 sessions to see if it’s a good fit for you and the organization, we will ask for a year-long commitment, as well as 60 days advance notice if you are no longer able to facilitate.
- You must submit and pass a background check.
- You should be comfortable using Zoom (for virtual meetings), as well as Google Sheets (for attendance records), but some light training can be provided if needed.
- Your primary responsibilities will be to operate the group on the day it is scheduled, as well as to record attendance in a timely manner. Other aspects, like sending meeting reminders to participants and promoting the group are handled by Stand with Trans staff members.
1st and 3rd Thursday Trans Men’s Group, 6 pm – 7:30 pm (participants are 18+):
- No professional license is required.
- Applicants must have lived experience as a trans man in order to best meet the needs of the group.
- This group meets in person at Affirmations in Ferndale, reliable transportation is required
4th Wednesday Nonbinary Group, 7 pm – 8:30 pm (participants are 18+):
- No professional license is required.
- Applicants must have lived experience as a nonbinary person in order to best meet the needs of the group.
- This group meets virtually, so a stable internet connection and method of accessing the internet (phone, tablet, computer) is required.
2nd and 4th Monday Tween Group, 7 pm – 8 pm (participants are 9-12 years old)
- Valid professional licensure as a counselor, therapist, psychologist, or social worker is required.
- Applicants must have experience working with this demographic and preferably have lived experience as a trans/ non-binary person.
- This group meets virtually, so a stable internet connection and method of accessing the internet (phone, tablet, computer) is required.
3rd Monday Lansing Parent Group, 6 pm – 7:30 pm (participants are 18+)
- No professional license is required.
- Applicants should be comfortable and patient with adults who may be learning about transgender issues for the first time, and must have lived experience as a parent of a transgender person.
- This group meets in person at Capital Area District Library in Downtown Lansing, reliable transportation is required
