QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) is a three-step evidence-based suicide-prevention program designed to help people in the community become gatekeepers and help people who are suicidal get the help they need quickly. Join Stand with Trans and Hegira Health’s Larry Martin for a training session for parents.
As a QPR Trained Gatekeeper, you’ll learn how to:
- Recognize the warning signs of suicide.
- Offer hope.
- Get help and save a life.

About the facilitator:
Larry Martin is a social worker that has a reputation for serving the needs of young people.
He graduated from the University of Memphis with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work.
Over the years, he has participated in volunteer work for Juvenile Court, foster work, and family services. Larry is currently employed by Hegira Health in Livonia and is one of the top certified QPR Suicide Prevention Trainers in the Detroit Metro area. He has trained hundreds
of individuals young and old in several organizations such as the Boy Scouts of America, Livonia Chamber of Commerce, Dearborn Police Department, Detroit Public Library, Plymouth
Public Library, Northville High School, South Redford School District, and several other organizations. Larry’s goal is to train enough individuals to reverse the dangerous trend of suicide among youth in Michigan and around the nation. This goal is synonymous with the “Zero Suicide Model” at Hegira Health which Larry believes can be achieved
training one individual at a time.
