Stand with Trans’ Share the Love is Back!

Family friendly event includes a free Covid-19 vaccination/booster pop-up

Farmington, MI – 

After a hiatus due to the pandemic, Stand with Trans’ annual “Share the Love” event is back on February 11, 2023, from 5-8 pm. This free event, held at Orchard United Methodist Church (30450 Farmington Rd, Farmington Hills, MI 48334), provides a safe space for transgender youth and their loved ones to engage in activities, be in community and make new friends. The event features activities such as art, face painting, young child story corner, teen yoga/mindfulness/meditation by a trans yogi, build your own burritos (GF and V available), video game stations, and a film screening of “Mama has a Mustache.”

“Whenever we can provide safe space for families of trans individuals to come together, it’s a big win. For youth to be with their transgender peers, and for adults to see that they have support as well among other parents and caregivers, it shows them that they are not alone and that there is a community that will love and support them, whatever their journey,” Executive Director, Stand with Trans, Roz Gould Keith, shares.

“There’s something magical about the ability to come together in community with folks who share experiences of gender diversity and simply exist and mingle. As a gender diverse person myself, I’m so honored to be in a position to be able to help make spaces where these times can happen and always look forward to welcoming you into our community and family,” says Program Manager, Stand with Trans, Danica Love.

In partnership with Affirmations, the event will also offer the opportunity for families to receive a Covid-19 pop-up vaccination or booster at no cost. The Oakland County Health Department will be on hand to administer the vaccines.

The event is free but pre-registration is required. Families of trans youth and teens can sign up for this free event at bit.ly/swt-sharethelove.

The Stand with Trans mission is to empower and support transgender youth and their loved ones.
