Affectionately Attached: The Impact of Attachment Styles on Sexual Self-Concept Among Adults Who Identify as LGBTGEQIAP+

My name is Karli Fleitas, and I am a doctoral candidate completing my dissertation at James Madison University. I am conducting a research study titled, “Affectionately Attached: The Impact of Attachment Styles on Sexual Self-Concept Among Adults Who Identify as LGBTGEQIAP+.” It is my intention to foster a deeper understanding of LGBTGEQIAP+ identities by centering the perspectives of the community. This study obtained approval from James Madison University’s Institutional Review Board as IRB # 23-3752 on November 16, 2022. 

The purpose of this email is to request permission to recruit participants within your organization. I have attached a flyer for your review. Adults (at least 21 years old) who self-identify as LGBTGEQIAP+ are eligible and invited to participate in this study. Consenting participants will be directed to an informed consent page, asked to complete a demographic questionnaire through Qualtrics—a secure, online survey tool, and then asked to complete two measures. The time commitment for participation is approximately 15-20 minutes.
